#26: How to Move a Product from Gate 3 to Gate 4

This guide explains how to complete the Gate 3 launch checklist and progress a product into Gate 4 once launch preparation activities have been completed.

 Purpose

To progress a product from Gate 3 to Gate 4 after all launch preparation activities, approvals and pilot requirements have been completed.


When to Use

Use this process when:

  • A product has entered the Launch Tracker.
  • Launch preparation activities are complete.
  • Pilot production has been completed.
  • Customer approval has been received.
  • The project is ready for Gate 4 review.

Before You Start

Ensure:

  • The product is in Gate 3 – Launch Tracker.
  • Finance Hub activities have been completed where required.
  • Launch information has been reviewed.
  • Pilot information is available.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Product Record

  1. Navigate to the Launch Tracker.
  2. Open the relevant product record.
  3. Confirm the product is currently in Gate 3.

Step 2: Complete Gate 3 Checklist Items

Review and update all Gate 3 launch fields.

Examples include:

  • Gate 3 Label Setup Complete
  • Gate 3 NRM Codes Set Up
  • Launch Documentation
  • Commercial Readiness Information

Update each field as activities are completed.


Step 3: Complete Pilot Information

Review and update:

  • Pilot Dispatch Date
  • Pilot Complete
  • Pilot Approved by Customer

Where applicable, enter dates and approval status.


Step 4: Confirm Customer Approval

Verify that:

  • Customer feedback has been received.
  • Pilot samples have been approved.
  • Any outstanding actions have been closed.

Update approval fields accordingly.


Step 5: Review Launch Readiness

Confirm all Gate 3 requirements have been completed.

Check:

  • Launch readiness information
  • Pilot completion
  • Customer approval
  • NRM code setup
  • Label setup

Step 6: Update the Gate Stage

  1. Locate the Gate Stage field.
  2. Select the next Gate stage.

Example:

Gate 4 – Pilot Approval
  1. Save the record.

Step 7: Verify Progression

Confirm:

  • The Gate Stage has updated successfully.
  • The product now appears within Gate 4.
  • The project is ready for the next approval process.

Outcome

Upon completion:

✅ Gate 3 activities completed

✅ Pilot information recorded

✅ Customer approval confirmed

✅ Product progressed to Gate 4

✅ Launch project continues through the approval workflow

❌ Progressing to Gate 4 before pilot completion

❌ Missing customer approval information
