This guide explains how to complete the final Gate 5 launch activities, move a product to Gate 6 and record the Gate 6 meeting information following first production.

To progress a product into Gate 6 once first production activities have been completed and the project is ready for post-launch review.


When to Use

Use this process when:

  • The product has progressed through Gate 5.
  • First production has been completed.
  • First customer orders have been received.
  • Launch activities have been implemented.
  • The project is ready for launch review.

Before You Start

Ensure:

  • The product is currently in Gate 5.
  • Production readiness has been confirmed.
  • Customer launch activities are complete.
  • Relevant launch information is available.

Steps

Step 1: Open the Product Record

  1. Navigate to the Launch Tracker.
  2. Open the relevant product record.
  3. Confirm the current Gate Stage is Gate 5.

Step 2: Review Launch Information

Review all launch-related information and confirm it is up to date.

Check:

  • Launch status
  • Customer details
  • Production information
  • Outstanding actions

Step 3: Record First Production Information

Update the Gate 5 launch fields.

Examples include:

  • Date First Order Received
  • First Production Date
  • First Production Complete

Ensure the dates entered reflect actual production activity.


Step 4: Review Cross-Functional Readiness

Confirm launch activities have been completed by relevant teams.

Examples:

  • Supply Chain
  • Operations
  • Procurement
  • Technical
  • Commercial

Any outstanding issues should be resolved before progressing the Gate.


Step 5: Update the Gate Stage

  1. Locate the Gate Stage field.
  2. Select:
Gate 6
  1. Save the record.

Step 6: Complete the Gate 6 Meeting Information

Record the outcome of the Gate 6 review meeting.

Review:

  • Launch performance
  • First production outcome
  • Customer feedback
  • Outstanding actions
  • Lessons learned

Update any meeting notes and required follow-up actions.


Step 7: Save and Verify

  1. Save all updates.
  2. Confirm the product now appears within Gate 6.
  3. Verify that all Gate 6 information has been recorded.

Outcome

Upon completion:

✅ Product progressed to Gate 6

✅ First production information recorded

✅ Launch activities confirmed

✅ Gate 6 meeting completed

✅ Launch review information captured
