SOP: How to Create a New Gate (Part 1) Purpose
When to Use
Steps
To create a new Gate record and ensure all mandatory project information is captured at the start of the development process.
When to Use
Use this process when:
- A new customer brief is received.
- A new development project is initiated.
- A project needs to enter the Master Tracker workflow.
Steps
Step 1: Open the Gates View
- Navigate to Gates.
- Select the appropriate tracker or view.
- Click Create Gate.
Step 2: Enter the Gate Name
- Complete the Gate Name field.
- Follow the agreed naming convention.
- Include the customer name and brief name where applicable.
Example:
Customer Name - Project Name
Step 3: Select the Pipeline
- Locate the Pipeline field.
- Select the appropriate pipeline.
Example:
- Master Tracker
Step 4: Select the Gate Stage
- Locate the Gate Stage field.
- Select the appropriate starting stage.
Example:
- Gate 0: Customer Project Created
Step 5: Complete Mandatory Information
Complete all required fields marked with an asterisk (*).
Examples may include:
- Gate Description
- Launch Date
- Customer Information
- Project Details
Step 6: Create the Gate
- Review all information entered.
- Confirm mandatory fields are completed.
- Click Create.
Outcome
Upon completion:
✅ A new Gate record is created
✅ The project enters the development workflow
✅ The project becomes visible within the Master Tracker
✅ Progress can be monitored through subsequent Gate stages
