SOP 06: Editing Columns in a Personal View
To customise your personal view by adding, removing, reordering, and resizing columns so you can see the information most relevant to your role.
When to Use
Use this process when:
- You need additional information displayed.
- Certain columns are not relevant to your work.
- You want to reorganise your view.
- You are creating a personalised Sample Tracker layout.
Before You Start
You must have:
- Access to the Sample Tracker.
- A personal view already created.
- Edit permissions for your personal view.

Process Steps
Step 1: Open Your Personal View
- Navigate to the Sample Tracker.
- Select your personal view tab.
- Confirm the correct view is open.
Step 2: Open the Column Editor
- Locate the Edit Columns button at the top of the tracker.
- Click Edit Columns.
A column configuration window will open.
Step 3: Add New Columns
- Search for the field you wish to add.
- Select the required field.
- Add it to your view.
Examples:
- Project Number
- Dispatch Week
- Sample Due Date
- Technology
- Unit Size
- Customer Tier
Step 4: Remove Unnecessary Columns
- Locate columns that are not required.
- Remove them from your personal view.
Only remove columns from your own view unless instructed otherwise.
Step 5: Reorder Columns
- Drag and drop columns into your preferred order.
- Place the most frequently used information towards the left-hand side.

- Gate Name
- Customer
- Dispatch Week
- Sample Due Date
- Technology
- Status
Step 6: Resize Columns (If Required)
- Hover between column headers.
- Click and drag the divider.
- Adjust the width to improve visibility.
Step 7: Save the Changes
⚠️ Important
Once all changes have been made:
- Click Save.
- Refresh the page if required.
- Confirm the layout remains in place.

- Customer Tier

Common Mistakes
❌ Forgetting to save changes.
❌ Removing important columns accidentally.
❌ Creating duplicate columns.
❌ Moving critical information too far to the right where it becomes hidden.
❌ Editing the wrong view.
Success Criteria
The process is complete when:
✓ Required columns are visible.
✓ Unnecessary columns have been removed.
