SOP 07: Assigning a Chef Lead
To assign a project to the appropriate chef once it has been approved and moved into the chef development stage. Assigning a Chef Lead ensures ownership is clear and the project progresses through the development process.
Use this process when:
- A project has been approved to Gate 2.
- A project requires chef ownership.
- Work needs to be allocated to a member of the culinary team.
Before You Start
You must have:
- Access to the Sample Tracker.
- Access to the Gate 2 projects.
- Knowledge of which chef will own the project.

Process Steps
Step 1: Open the Sample Tracker
- Navigate to the Sample Tracker.
- Locate projects that have been approved to Gate 2.
Projects approved to Gate 2 are ready for chef allocation.
Step 2: Locate the Project
- Find the project requiring assignment.
- Review:
- Gate Name
- Project Number
- Product ID
- Customer
- Current Status
Confirm you are working on the correct project before making changes.
Step 3: Navigate to the Chef Lead Column
- Scroll horizontally across the tracker if required.
- Locate the Chef Lead column.

Step 4: Assign the Chef
- Click into the Chef Lead field.
- Select the appropriate chef from the dropdown list.
Example:
- Emma
- Nicola
- Jason
- Rob
(depending on current team structure)
Step 5: Save the Update
- Confirm the chef has been selected.
- Wait for HubSpot to save the change automatically.
Verify that the selected chef remains visible in the Chef Lead field.
Step 6: Verify Assignment
Check that:
✓ The correct project has been updated.
✓ The Chef Lead field has been populated.
✓ Changes have been saved successfully.
✓ The project is now assigned to the correct chef.

Before assigning:
- Review chef workload.
- Consider project complexity.
- Check delivery deadlines.
- Balance work across the culinary team.
Common Mistakes
❌ Assigning the wrong chef.
